On May 9th at the MUFLL general meeting, in Halifax league commissioner Brendon Smithson announced that Acadia University will be hosting the 2006 MUFLL championship on Nov 4 – 5, 2006. The previous Championships were held at StFX University.
This will be a great chance for the MUFLL to increase it fan base out in the Valley,” said Commissioner Smithson. “Acadia’s bid was excellent, it not only included great faculties, but they are involving the Wolfville community and helping to develop high school field lacrosse.”
Even with the addition of two teams to bring the MUFLL total up to six teams. The Scotiabank Championship weekend will still include the top four teams from the regular season standings. With the two pools this year the semi-final will be cross-over games with 1st place in South facing of with 2nd place in North and vice versa. With Acadia hosting this event they will receive an automatic spot into the Semi-finals.
The sponsors will provide equipment for teams such as lacrosse cleats, lacrosse gloves, helmet, and equipment for exercise such as rebounders, nets…
The main venue for the second MUFLL championship will be the 3,000-seat Raymond field. Raymond field is the main field for Acadia Men’s Football, Soccer and Women’s Rugby and Soccer. While Saturday night the Telus awards Banquet will be hosted at Acadia University’s Wheelock Hall and the food will be prepared by the Sodexho catering company. Wheelock Hall is located on the south side of campus and is roughly a 10minute walk from the fields

Acadia and the MUFLL are working together to make this an even bigger event. One of the biggest additions planned for this years Scotiabank Championship is to webcast the event. “With many of our players from outside Nova Scotia this is a great opportunity to bring the MUFLL to there friends and families,” said Smithson.
“We are still working out the details but hope to have this official by mid of July.” Between semi-final games Acadia plans on hosting a High school field lacrosse game, which the MUFLL hopes will turn into a full high school league in the near future.
Further details and announcements regarding sponsorship, volunteer opportunities and the game schedule will be announced in Sept.
