Highlights from 2009 Classic

The 11th Annual Western New England College Athletics Department  Golf Classic was another big success as over 130 golfers played in the event under perfect conditions Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 at the Crestview Country Club in Agawam, Massachusetts. The tournament raised over $50,000 to benefit the school's student-athletes.

The primary purpose of the event is to ensure that the Western New England College athletic experience is second to none. Sponsorship dollars directly benefit all of the student-athletes at Western New England College.

This tradition of excellence is a direct result of our supporters, and we appreciate and THANK YOU for participating  in this year's tournament.


Former Western New England College Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Rick DiRuzza was the 2009 Guest of Honor. Athletics director Mike Theulen presents the plaque to Rick at the reception banquet.

“The support the Athletics Department received from Rick was and is sensational,” said Theulen. “All of our success from the past 11 years has been due in large part to the leadership and interest exhibited by him. I will miss Rick as a boss and personally as a friend.”
