LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team received goals from nine players in posting a 23-10 victory over Western New England College Thursday (March 18) at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex.
Senior midfielder
Abby Hungerford (Syracuse, NY) led the Knights with three goals and two assists.
Senior attacker
Tara Murphy (St. James, NY), senior defender
Justine Thorner (Oceanside, NY), junior midfielder
Anna Hutchings (Syracuse, NY), and freshmen midfielders
Lea Paris (Henrietta, NY) and
Rachel Petrone (Rochester, NY) each tallied three goals apiece.
Western New England College took a 1-0 lead when junior attacker
Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington Station, NY) scored just 32 seconds into the contest with an assist from sophomore attacker Kati
e Toomy (Northborough, MA).
Geneseo reeled off five straight goals and went on to a commanding 13-3 lead at halftime.
Toomy led the Golden Bears with a career high six goals, five coming in the second half.
Barbato finished with a goal and three assists, as did senior midfielder
Lindsey Fenton (Pelham, MA).
Freshman attacker
Julianne Green (Brightwaters, NY) added a goal and assist while freshman midfielder
Megan Doyle (Putnam Valley, NY) had the other goal. Green and Barbato each had two draw controls.
Western New England College has a 2-4 record while Geneseo is 2-0.
