Becker sweeps season series over Western New England College after posting ECAC Northeast win

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.
- The Becker men's hockey team swept the season series with Western New England College after posting a 5-1 victory Sunday afternoon (Feb. 7) at the New England Sports Center.

The Hawks, who beat the Golden Bears 5-2 on December 5 in Springfield, are now 9-10-1 overall and 5-5 in the ECAC Northeast. 

Freshman defenseman Don Kane (Staten Island, NY) had his first goal of the season and two assists for Becker. Sophomore forward Patrick Bellew (Newington, CT) added a goal and assist. Sophomore defenseman Jeremy Norducci (Apex, NC) contributed two assists.

Becker scored twice in the final 4:43 of the opening period for a 2-0 lead and stretched the margin to 4-0 after power play goals by Bellew and Kane in a 49-second span in less than three minutes into the second stanza.

Senior forward Michael St. Lawrence (Holyoke, MA) put the Golden Bears on the board at 9:24 of the third period with an assist from freshman forward Mark Joyce (Needham, MA).

Becker sophomore forward Nate Sayer (Dracut, MA) scored the final goal of the game at the 12:41 mark of regulation. Sophomore goalie Jake Rosenthal (Wantagh, NY) compiled 26 saves for the Hawks.

Freshman T.J. Fatse (Hampden, MA) stopped 34 shots for Western New England College. The Golden Bears fall to 2-17-1 overall and 1-9 in the league.
