HENNIKER, N.H. - Freshman guard
Emily Savino (Ellington, CT) scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Western New England College women's basketball team to a 57-45 victory over New England College Saturday afternoon (Feb. 6).
The Golden Bears, who had dropped their previous two outings by three points each, moved their record to 12-7 overall and 5-4 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
WNEC shot 41.5% from the field and made all 11 of its free-throw attempts for a perfect 100%.
Savino was the difference making 7-of-14 field-goal attempts, all seven charity shots, and grabbing six rebounds to go along with three assists.
Freshman center
Elena Radzikowski (Medway, MA) added eight points and six rebounds.
Senior guard
Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) and sophomore forward
Sarah Proper (Coxsackie, NY) each tallied six points. Proper pulled down five rebounds as did junior guard
Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT) who also scored five points.
Junior guard
Trish Breault (Millville, MA) returned after missing 10 games with an injury and had four points in seven minutes.
The Pilgrims had three players in double players led by sophomore forward
Rachel Williams (Chapel, NC) with 13 points and six rebounds.
Senior forward
Kendall Wolfson (Lyndeborough, NH) contributed 12 points and eight boards while graduate guard
Jenny Bronson (Morgan, VT) had 11 points and eight rebounds.
New England College shot just 35.4% from the field and 62.5% from the foul line in dropping to 8-13 overall and 1-8 in the league.
