Rick Johnson tosses in 20 points as Western New England College defeats New England College

- Senior guard Rick Johnson (Springfield, MA) led four players in double figures with 20 points to lead the Western New England College men's basketball team to an 88-58 win over New England College Saturday afternoon (Feb. 6).

This was the second straight road win for the Golden Bears who improved their record to 11-9 overall and 6-3 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

Johnson had his best game in almost two months making 6-of-12 shots from the floor and seven-of-eight free throws. He also had three rebounds and three assists.

Senior guard Chris Devine (Wilbraham, MA), junior center Conor Lomas (Wilbraham, MA), and sophomore guard Andre Shaw (Jamaica, NY) each netted 11 points. 

This was a season high point total for Lomas who made all four of his field-goal attempts and pulled down eight rebounds.

Junior forward Brad Thomka (Springfield, MA) added nine points and five rebounds.

WNEC led 40-30 at halftime and finished shooting 52.7% from the field and 70.3% from the charity stripe.

Junior forward Shane Hennessey (Plymouth, England) was the only Pilgrims' player in double figures with 10 points. He also pulled down eight rebounds. Freshman forward Nick Hoffman (Theftford, VT) contributed eight points and five rebounds in a reserve role.

New England College made 12-of-14 foul shots (85.7%), but had a rough shooting day from the floor making only 33.3% of its shots.
