Salve Regina hands Western New England College second straight loss in conference play

-- Sophomore center Lindsay Shorey (Ashland, MA) and junior forward Erin Phillips (Morristown, NJ) combined for 31 points and 14 rebounds as the Salve Regina women's basketball team posted a 64-48 victory over Western New England College Saturday afternoon (Jan. 23).

Shorey had a big game with 19 points making 9-of-12 shots from the field with eight rebounds, four blocks, and three assists. 

Phillips contributed 12 points and six rebounds as the Seahawks raised their record to 9-7 and 4-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). 

Junior center Victoria Audet (Broad Brook, CT) had eight points coming off the bench while junior forward Olivia Browning (Trumbull, CT) provided seven points and a team high nine rebounds.

Salve Regina, which led by 12 at halftime (32-20), made 46.2% of its field-goal attempts to offset only two-of-nine free throws.

WNEC had its second straight sub-par shooting contest finishing with a 36.1% effort from the floor while missing all five free throw attempts.

Senior guard Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) had 10 points with seven rebounds and a pair of steals.

Freshman center Elena Radzikowski (Medway, MA) also netted 10 points (5-8 from the field) coming off the bench.

Freshman guard Shelby Van Huysen (Killingworth, CT) added nine points while sophomore forward Sarah Proper (Coxsackie, NY) chipped-in with eight points, a game-high 11 rebounds, and five assists.

Western New England College falls to 10-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference after dropping its second straight league outing on the road this week.
