Power plays lead Johnson & Wales past Western New England College in ECAC outing

N. SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Johnson & Wales scored three times on power play opportunities in blanking Western New England College 5-0 in an ECAC Northeast men's hockey contest Saturday night (Jan. 23) at the Rhode Island Sports Center.

The Wildcats improve their record to 6-11 and 3-3 in the conference while the Golden Bears drop to 1-13-1 and 1-5 in the conference.

Junior forward Craig Houle (Burrillville, RI) and freshman forward Jason Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, MA) each had two goals and and two assists while sophomore forward Jeremiah Ketts (Foristell, MO) also added two assists.

Freshman goalie Matt Cooper (Perrysburg, OH) stopped 22 shots in compiling his first collegiate win.

The Wildcats scored three times in the opening stanza with two coming on the power play.

Freshman goalie T.J. Fatse (Hampden, MA) stopped 33 shots for the Golden Bears.
