SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior basketball guards Taryn Belowsky (New Haven, CT) and Chris Devine (Wilbraham, MA) were honored Wednesday (Jan. 20) as the Western New England College Female and Male Athletes-of-the-Week.

Belowsky averaged 11.3 points and shot 46% from the field (12-for-26) in three games as the Golden Bears extended their winning streak to seven games. Playing in only her third game of the season after returning from an injury she had 12 points in a 58-53 victory at Emerson. Belowsky then tallied 16 points with seven assists and six rebounds in her first start of the season in a thrilling 97-91 double overtime victory over Endicott. She is a Psychology/Education major.

Devine also led the Golden Bears to three victories by averaging 15.3 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 51.4% from the floor (19-for-37). He tossed in a season high 17 points with nine rebounds and two assists in an 88-81 win over Endicott. Devine also compiled his first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in a 76-57 decision over Roger Williams, and contributed a team high 15 points with six boards in a 72-64 road win over Tufts. Devine is an Integrated Liberal Studies major.
