SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College women's lacrosse team is heading back to post-season competition.
WNEC will host New England College at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday (May 6) in a first round game of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Tournament.
The Golden Bears are seeded fourth, the Pilgrims fifth. Both teams are members of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
Western New England College (10-7) won the regular season meeting between the schools 15-14. The Pilgrims have a 10-8 record.
The WNEC-New England College winner will play top-seeded Roger Williams (another TCCC rival) on Saturday (May 9) at a site to be announced.
In the other game Wednesday, second-seeded Emerson will entertain seventh-seeded Worcester State while sixth-seeded Curry visits third-seeded Castleton State. The winners of those contests will play one another Saturday (May 9), also at a site to be determined.
Last year Western New England College captured its frst ECAC title after defeating Castleton State, Roger Williams, and Bridgewater State. The Golden Bears are making their fourth appearance in the championship.
