SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Western New England College sophomore Nicole Poli (Medfield, MA) was named to the 2009 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III All-Berkshire Region Second Team on Thursday (May 21).
Poli also was a Second Team selection on the IWLCA Berkshire Region Team last year.
A sophomore defender, Poli led the nation in caused turnovers for the second straight season with a 5.0 average this spring. She also was fifth on the team in scoring with 23 points (20 goals, 3 assists).
Poli, a Psychology major, was the WNEC Coca-Cola Female Athlete-of-the-Year and the WNEC Defensive Most Valuable Player.
She also made The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) All-Star Team.
With Poli helping to lead the way, Western New England College posted a 13-7 record for its 10th consecutive winning season.
The Golden Bears advanced to the quarterfinals of the conference tournament and repeated as ECAC Division III New England Tournament champions.
