SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Three Western New England College players received Division III All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) on Thursday (May 21).
Senior defenseman Jared Pabis (Wilbraham, MA) earned his third All-America award after being named to the USILA Second Team. He was an Honorable Mention pick in 2007 and 2008.
Senior attacker Brody Savoie (Wilbraham, MA) made the USILA Third Team for his second All-American award. He also was an Honorable Mention pick last year.
Senior Scott Kukis (Sudbury, MA) gained an Honorable Mention on the USILA Team.
Pabis anchored the Golden Bears' defense that was third nationally in goals allowed (6.25) this spring. He is a General Business major.
Savoie led Western New England College with 59 points (45 goals, 14 assists) and seven game-winning shots. A Business Management major, he finished his career with 151 points (104-47).
Savoie and Pabis were both selected to play for the North Team in the annual USILA Division III Senior North-South All-Star Game on Friday at Harvard Stadium prior to the Major League Lacrosse game between the Boston Cannons and Denver Outlaws.
Kukis ranked third on the team with 37 points (25 goals, 12 assists) and compiled 104 points (72-32) during his four-year career. He also was a General Business major.
WNEC posted a 17-3 record this past season and repeated as The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament champions.
The Golden Bears also advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championship for the third consecutive season.
The USILA ranked Western New England College ninth in its final Division III poll.
