Western New England College junior Justin Walz selected to NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team

33009justinwalzgifSPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Western New England College junior shortstop Justin Walz (Groton, CT) was named to the 2009 NCAA Division III New York Regional All-Tournament Team, it was announced Monday (May 18).

Walz hit .500 (8-for-16) in three tournament games with a pair of triples and .750 slugging percentage. He scored three runs and drove in three runs.

Walz collected a season high four hits against Ithaca, and two against both Rensselaer and Clarkson.

A Sport Management major, Walz hit .356 in 46 games this past season with a team high 58 runs (which was a new school record) and 36 walks from his leadoff position. He was third on the team with nine stolen bases in nine attempts.

Western New England College posted a 30-17 record and repeated as The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament champions in advancing to the national tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
