SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Juniors Tim Santye (Skillman, NJ) and Nick Zaleski (Somers, CT) will serve as co-captains of the 2010 Western New England College men's lacrosse team, coach John Klepacki announced Friday (May 15).
Santye, an attack player, was the second leading scorer on the Golden Bears' squad this spring with 55 points (43 goals, 12 assists).
He was named to The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) First Team and was the league's Offensive-Player-of-the-Week three times.
A Sport Management major, Santye has 93 career points (70 goals, 23 assists).
Zaleski, a defender, was fifth on the squad with 45 ground balls this past season and compiled eight points (three goals, five assists).
He helped anchor the Golden Bear's defense, which is third nationally in goals-against-average (6.25).
Zaleski, an Accounting major, also was named to the All-Conference First Team.
Western New England College posted a 17-3 record (that tied the school record for wins) and finished first in the conference with a perfect 9-0 mark.
The Golden Bears also repeated as TCCC Tournament champions and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third consecutive year.
WNEC was ranked ninth in the final United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse (USILA) Division III Poll.
