Soccer standouts Jason Sabia and Shannon Pescatello named WNEC Athletes-of-the-Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
– Soccer standouts Jason Sabia (Poughkeepsie, NY) and Shannon Pescatello (Wethersfield, CT) were honored Wednesday (Oct. 28) as the Western New England College Male and Female Athletes-of-the-Week.

Sabia, a forward on the men’s team, netted a goal with an assist in a 6-1 victory over Regis and scored the first goal in a 3-1 win over Anna Maria. He is the Golden Bears’ second leading scorer with 15 points (4 goals, team high seven assists). Sabia is a Finance major.

Pescatello, a center midfielder on the women’s squad, tallied game-winning goals in a 6-1 victory over Regis and 1-0 overtime win against Western Connecticut. The win over the WCSU Colonials was the first in 12 meetings dating back to 1998. A Psychology major, Pescatello is third on the team with seven points (two goals, three assists).
